GTWS Myoko Trail Event 2026

GTWS Myoko Trail Event 2026

The arrival of the Myoko Trail in 2026 marks a significant moment for the region. As part of the Golden Trail World Series, one of the world’s leading trail running competitions, the event will bring elite athletes and passionate runners from around the globe to Myoko. Set against the backdrop of Mount Myoko and Lake Nojiri, the race also highlights the area’s growing reputation as a destination for outdoor adventure beyond the winter ski season.

Scheduled for 19–20 September 2026, the Myoko Trail will serve as the sixth stop on the Golden Trail World Series calendar. The series visits only eight locations worldwide each year, making Myoko’s inclusion a notable achievement. For runners, it offers the chance to compete on the same circuit as some of the sport’s top athletes while experiencing one of Japan’s most scenic mountain regions.

The 2026 event will be held at Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort, with a course designed to showcase both the area’s terrain and its mountain scenery. Competitors will tackle two major climbs into the Mount Myoko range, linked by steep descents and technical sections that demand strength, endurance and careful pacing. The route incorporates both Suginohara and neighbouring Ikenotaira Ski Resort, creating a race that is expected to challenge international professionals while also drawing attention to Myoko as an emerging destination for trail running, outdoor recreation and nature-based travel.

For those travelling to Myoko for the event, Apartment 1 at Myoko Apartments is suitable for up to 8 people and provides a comfortable and practical base for groups of runners, families and supporters. Located at the foot of Mount Myoko, the property welcomes visitors throughout the year. While many guests arrive during winter in search of Myoko’s famous powder snow, the warmer months offer easy access to hiking, cycling and trail running. There’s also a gym onsite, making it easy to keep training or loosen up after a day on the course.
